From Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Traveling to Big Bamboo from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida is relatively quick and easy. With a valid passport for entry into The Bahamas, guests can fly a direct route of 175 miles to Andros Town in only 55 minutes.


Big Bamboo is also accessible by small boat.  While we do not have a full service marina, our 60 foot T-dock can accomodate several boats at a time, up to 30+ feet in length, with a draft of 3 feet at low tide and bridge clearance of 10 feet or less. Fueling can be arranged, based on guests advance request.



Flying to Andros Island can now be simply fun and fast, as Tropic Ocean Airways offers direct "scheduled" service from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (FLL) to Andros Town Airport (ASD), a short one mile away from Big Bamboo:  Beginning April 1, 2019.


Days of the Week:  Monday & Thursday  


Flight Times:  Departure FLL 1:45pm - 2:15pm

                          Return ASD 3:30pm - 4:45pm


If you would like to check off a bucket list experience, Tropic Ocean Airways can accomodate guests with a Sea Plane charter directly to Big Bamboo's dock, too.  Don't let a little fear and common sense get in your way ...


Guests from the Florida region may access vehicle parking at Tropic Ocean Airways, whereby those who arrive at Ft. Lauderdale International Airport will be transported by the Tropic Ocean Airways shuttle to the private terminal, avoiding any lines with security or customs.

Traveling From Nassau

Travel to Big Bamboo from any location in the United States is not complicated, as most major airlines fly  into Nassau, Bahamas.  


Upon arrival at the Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, guests can connect with commuter flights at the General Aviation Center to Andros Town, which is a close 20 minutes flight ride away.
